The 2016 model of Opel Astra TCR was recently introduced for the touring car and racing series; the automobile comes with an incredible powertrain and superior aerodynamic components. A glance at the car shows that it is in top shape for the race.
The Opel Astra TCR is powered by a turbo-charged four cylinder engine of a 2.0 litre capacity. The engine produces up to 330hp and up to 420Nm torque. Added to the engine is also a six-speed racing transmission which transfers power in sequence from the front wheel and pushing the 1200kg automobile forward. The automobile is also equipped with other key mechanical parts which comprised a double declutching system which is automated, a double-disc sinter metal clutch, 2- piston calipers at the rear holding 265mm discs as well as 6-piston calipers at the front consisting of 378mm discs.
From the aerodynamic perspective, the vehicle consists of an adjustable rear wing as well as an adjustable front splitter. When it is compared to the Opel Astra models on the road, it contains a flare arch wheel, a double exhaust at the back and an efficient rear diffuser. The interior is packed with all the racing equipment expected in a racing car such as a Recaro race seat, a three spoke- steering wheel and a digital display.
